Favourite Animal and WHY

Before we start I would like to say a sad farewell to my co-founder of this blog, Samantha, who has recently decided to step down from the AYLI team.  The two of us started the AYLI challenge blog almost exactly 5 years ago with the most important rule for entry of making creations that we're proud of; using our favourite techniques or crafting stash and not trying to fit tightly restrictive competition themes that were not our style.  I'm very sad that she's stepped down from our joint venture, but I hope you join with me to wish her well.  Thank you Samantha for the last 5 years! :0)

Back to the challenge in hand, and this week our post is hosted by Elaine:

You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I've always loved tigers. They're beautiful, graceful solitary creatures who unlike most cats, actually love water!  I've been a little bit creative with the choice of image for my card, because I've opted for a mini-tigger in the form of a ginger kitty.  He's just like my own mini-tigger. If you want to read a few amusing stories about him, pop over to my blog. :0)

I am an animal lover and couldn't decide my favorite, so I narrowed to down to my favorite large animal which has to be an elephant.  Some of the stories and films I have seen indicate they are not only large physically, they seem to have very large hearts and such wonderful personalities.

Elaine

Dogs have to be one of the animals I am fond of. I don't have any pets but I do love walking my daughters springer spaniel Rosie. She is so full of energy and always up to mischief. When she finally tires it is lovely to snuggle up for a snooze.

I love working with all kinds of animal images on my cards, but mice are all my favourite animal to use on a card. I love their cute look and they are real special to me, because my mother used to call me mouse when I was a little girl. But I have to admit I only like them on cards and in books, not in real life. ;)

I love most animals, but because we have two of them, I am going to say dogs.  They are so loving and loyal and it's great to see them enjoying themselves on a long walk and cooling off with a swim.

Such a tough choice and I have to say I am a lover of all animals, with the exception of one or two creepy crawlies, but I am going to say dogs here. We have always had dogs and our home just wouldn't be the same without them. I can chatter away at them all day long and they never judge me or roll their eyes in despair like Hubby does!!

OK, so, favourite animal....in terms of the one I share a house with, it has to be a kitty, but if it's that other animal then what else could it be but a cute, fluffy, frisky, and now quite rare, little red squirrels!

I have a lot of favorite animals. For this challenge I chose cow and chickens.
Last weekend we went to a farm where the cows were sent out in to the meadow after a long winter periode in the stables. And they were so happy to be outside again. I love to see the cows jumping and dancing.

So now it's over to you.
We hope you will join in our challenge and show us your style.
Don't forget, you MUST explain WHY it is your favourite to be eligible to win.

Good luck, and happy crafting.
Hugs from the AYLI girls.

This fortnight's challenge theme is to showcase a project using
Your Favourite Colouring Medium (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I've been playing with some other colouring mediums lately (like my Zig Brush markers and also my DoCrafts Artiste watercolour markers), but my go-to 'safe place' always has to be my DI reinkers. Although I'm forever learning with them, I know most of the colours now. Of course I have those that I use all the time and some favourite blends but I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the shadows on today's image because there is quite a bit of depth in the petals!  Ultimately I really like watercolouring with the inks - it's therapeutic although it does take me about 3 times longer than using Copics!

I love coloring and agree that it helps take me away from all the challenges of the day.  I am working on my pencil skills but need much more practice.  I love playing with watercolor and distress inks, but my go to medium has to be my much loved Copic markers. They blend so beautifully and are much less stressful at this point in my coloring journey.

Elaine

My favourite colouring medium has to be Promarkers alcohol marker pens. It has taken me some time to learn how to use them and get results I am happy with.  I am getting there and always learning. I love how they blend and I can get some dimension to my images. It is so relaxing to sit and colour in, takes me back to my childhood.

I am definitly a pencil girl! I love using them and I love seeing all the progress that I have made since I started using them. And I am still learning more about using them. I think they are really easy to work with and most of them times I get good results with them. ;)

Lynne
My favourite has to be Copic markers because they were what I started with and am most familiar with, although I am still learning.  I do have some new pencils to try but have not  used them enough yet.

Definitely Promarkers for me. I have tried all manner of colouring but I still go back to Promarkers, they just work for me!!

It wasn't so long ago that I would not have used anything other than Distress Inks (ReInkers) for everything but lately I have ventured deeper into the world of mixed media and, I am surprising myself here, I am loving it!

I began with Derwent pencils, but since I have Copic markers I don't use the pencils anymore. I also tried Distress inks, but mostly I don't like the result. So my all time favorite colour medium is Copic markers. I love the colours and they way they blend.

So now it's over to you.
