Favourite non-traditional Christmas Animal (and why)

Welcome to As You Like It Challenge

Our fortnightly challenge is a home for you to create something
which gives you a warm "inner glow" of pride, without lots of entry rules.

Usually we provide options for you to choose from.
You just need to select and use your favourite option in order to join in.

For a chance to win our prize or top-3 spot,
you need to tell us why you've made your choice.
That way our team and readers can appreciate why it's your favourite.

eg, if the theme is 'favourite animal' and you decide on 'bunny', tell us why.
eg, you love Thumper, the rabbit from Bambi !

So get crafting and remember to have fun
and enjoy your crafting time.

This fortnight's challenge theme is to showcase a project using
Your Favourite non-traditional Christmas animal (a penguin free zone) (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

I absolutely love the cute woodland critters drawn by Lee Holland, especially his badger character, so this Christmas version wearing his Santa hat is perfect for my non-traditional animal themed card!  I think he's adorable, padding along in the snow carryng his gift. I hope he doesn't get those paws too cold in the snow.

This Bunny is one of my favorite Christmas animals.  I love his goofy look and those ears are just too cute!
Another Barry, he is my untraditional Christmas animal..
Who woulda thunk a Bear at Christmas..

One of my favourite non-traditional animals is hedgehogs. These cute critters are a family favourite.

I immediately thought about this very adorable highland cow when I had to pick a non-traditional animal for my christmas card. I really love this image and love seeing highland cows, they are amazing in real life.

My fave non traditional animals are cats.   These little kitties are so mischievous and make a fun card for cat owners.

I am sure that dogs don't tend to feature as a traditional Christmas animal, unless those Shepherds watching their flocks had a border collie or two!!
I don't thinlk I have shared anything featuring this rubber stamp but think it's a perfect card to send to a dog lover from a dog lover!

I think there could be an argument about what is and isn't a traditional Christmas animal, but I'm fairly sure mice will be on the non-traditional list.  I love this old Penny Black stamp, it just feels so cosy.

I have inherited a lot of Penny Black stamps including a lot of Christmas stamps. I like this one very much. I like chickens. One day I hope to keep a few chickens myself.

So now it's over to you.
We hope you will join in our challenge and show us your style.
Don't forget, you MUST explain WHY it is your favourite to be eligible to win.

Good luck, and happy crafting.
Hugs from the AYLI girls.

Favourite non-traditional Christmas Colour Combo (and why)

Your Favourite NON-Traditional Christmas Colour(s) (& why).
You MUST explain WHY it is your favourite.

Here are the beautiful creations made by our Design Team to get your mojo flowing:

My favourite colours for any theme would be pastel pink, blue and purple, so I've combined all three of them on my gift box project.  I love the softness of these colours and enjoy the break from traditional red, gold and green for Christmas.

My favorite non-traditional color combo for Christmas is icy blue, pink and sage green.  I love seeing pink holly with sage leaves and icy blue is perfect for all the snow I color for my cards.  Plus, the colors just seem to me, to work well together.

Pink..I love pink Christmas cards as an alternative for colour,
and sneaking in some shaker elements is a bonus.

I have had these papers for years, so I have finally used them and love the combination of dark blue, purple and cream. I think they will be appearing in more projects.

I do love red/pink and green on my Christmas cards and most of the Christmas cards that I make have these colours on them. But after seeing the combination of kraft paper with an orange sky on them about 2 years ago, I knew one day I had to make a card in these colours. I think it is a really pretty combination and it gives a card such a warm feeling, so perfect for a Christmas card.

I've gone with pink. I think it makes a really pretty change and goes well with either silver or gold.

My favourite non-traditional Christmas colour would be blues and purples. Blue for icy wintry colours and a touch of purple for a bit of contrast.

I do love purple at Christmas, it just adds a touch of luxury, especially when teamed with silver or gold

My favourite non-traditional Christmas colours are blues or purples. I think those colours together with green are a beautiful combination.
